Registration

Q. How do I register for a course?
A. Please complete the online registration form. You will normally receive a confirmation by email or text message within a few hours. Alternatively you can call or visit our office.

When can I start my course?
A. Normally you can join our course every Monday.

Q. How far in advance do I have to make my booking?
A. It is possible to enrol for a course at fairly short notice subject to availability of an open seat.

Prices

Q. How much does everything cost?
A. The total course fee depends on the number of weeks you book. In addition to the course fee you need to pay £40.00 for registration fee, if you are a new student. Also you need to pay for your course materials.

Q. Does school have parking space?
A. No.

Q. How can I come to school using public transportation?
A. The school is located in Lithos Road. You can get to our school easily by tube (Finchley Road station, Travel Zone 2, Jubilee & Metropolitan Lines) or by bus.

The closest bus stop is Finchley Road and Frognal station.

The nearest tube station is Finchley Road Station. The nearest overground station is Finchley Road and Frognal.
You can also come to school using following bus lines: 13, 82, 113, 187, 268, and C11.

Q. What nationality and age groups are the students at NLS?
A. We have students of almost every nationality. The minimum age for the group courses is 16. We can offer One-to-One lessons for students under 16 years old.

Q. Will NLSEnglish  prepare me to take any official exams?
A. We offer exam preparation courses such as IELTS and Cambridge exams (FCE, CAE and CPE).

Q. What is the maximum number of students in each class?
A. Classes can start with 3 students and can take up to 10 students.

Q. Does NLSEnglish  offer private lessons?
A. You can arrange private lessons on all the courses we offer. For more information please contact our admin office.

Q. How will my progress be monitored?
A. During the course, you will receive an individual feedback from your teacher to assess your progress on a weekly basis. Besides, students regularly sit for the progress tests. In the end of the course students are required to take the final exam to go to the next level. The minimum requirements to go to the next level: score 65 out of 100 in the final exam and attend not less than 80% of the course.

Teachers

Q. What qualifications do the teachers have?
A. All of our teachers are experienced and have a degree and/or a certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Such as (CELTA)/ (TESOL)

Q. What teaching methods does your school apply?
A. Our school uses a variety of teaching methods depending on what is being taught but our courses are designed based on the latest English Language Teaching (ELT) approaches.

Courses

Q. How long is each lesson?
A. The timetable is different for various courses. The classes are 1- to 3-hours long.

Q. How many lessons do I have per week?
A. We offer full-time courses with 15 hours per week (3 hours per day, every day classes); part-time courses with 9 hours per week (3 hours per day, three days a week) and 6 hours per week (2 hours a day, 3 days per week). The type of the course depends on the level and subject to availability.

Q. How long does it take to complete a level?
A. The length of the course depends on individual's abilities. On average it takes 120 hours to complete a level.

Q. Will I get a certificate at the end of my course?
A. Students will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course/Level (score 65 out of 100 in the final exam and attend not less than 80% of the course).

Q. How many levels do you have?
A. We have 6 levels: Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper-Intermediate and Advanced. If you are a true Beginner, you can take only private lessons for the first 45 hours.

Q. Do I need to buy a course book?
A. YES. Most of the books are available in the school for purchase.

Q. What if the level of the class is too low/too high?
A. Our placement system helps students to choose the best suitable course considering their level of English. Should a student find the course too easy or too difficult, he/she has to see our supervisor for a consultation, and our supervisor will help him/her to change the class if necessary.

Q. How much can I expect to learn after a 2-week, 4-week, or 12-week course?
A. Every student learns at different pace, however, on average, students need 120 hours to move from one level to the next.

Terms and conditions

Q. What happens if I cancel my course?
A. Should students need to cancel their course, they need to notify the school in writing at least 28 days prior to the commencement of the course to receive a full refund of the course fee.

Any cancellation between 27 days and 7 days prior to the commencement of the course would be subjected to a 25% deduction of the course fee.

Any cancellation between 7 days and 2 days prior to the commencement of the course would be subjected to a 50% deduction of the course fee.

No refund is available for cancellations within 48 hours prior to the commencement of the course.

No refund is available after the commencement of the course.

If students have to stop their course earlier than the finishing date of the course, their tuition and materials fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

The registration fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

The accommodation booking fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.

Q. What happens if I miss a lesson ?
A. Students cannot reschedule, cancel or ask to make up for missed sessions of group courses.

We will allow students to arrive a maximum of 15 minutes late for their lesson.

After this time, it is at the teacher's discretion to allow the students into the class. 

If this action is repeated on a regular basis, students will be sent to speak to the Director of Studies.

Students will be reminded that if they fail to attend a minimum of 80% during their course, they won't receive a certificate and the end of course report.
